Role : Lead Motion Designer


As the lead motion designer at Patreon, I developed motion designs for product launches, which featured across email newsletters, In- app notifications, social media, website, and the company newsroom.
These assets highlighted new features and updates of the product, aiming to inform users. My focus was on creating designs that were both visually compelling and authentic to the product.

Challenges:

Balancing accurate product representation with engaging animation to clearly communicate ideas.

Managing technical limits—keeping GIFs under 2MB—without sacrificing design or animation quality.

Bringing Patreon's brand personality into the animations while avoiding the feel of generic screen recordings.


Solutions:

Balancing Accuracy and Engagement : We simplified text and UI elements to keep the focus on key motion moments, making animations clear, concise, and visually engaging.

Managing Technical Constraints : By experimenting with tools and compression methods, we brought GIFs under 2MB without losing quality or impact.

Infusing Brand Personality : We added a custom cursor with a stretch-and-squash effect to reflect Patreon's fluid brand identity and make interactions feel more dynamic and unique.
